What are windbreaks or trellises for?
Mainly to protect crops from damage from gusts of winds during periods of blossoming and flowering.
They also reduce the salinity in the environment produced by proximity to the sea, as well as the incidence of damaging agents carried in the air.
The windbreaks are made with heights of up to 4 or 5 metres. They consist of hot dip galvanized steel tubes concreted into the ground and joined together with steel cables.
The construction can be carried out using monofilament mesh, reinforced at the bottom with single twist mesh, giving it a double functionality.
